This feature currently only supports standard Moodle Forums. Adding other forum types to this tab is an already requested enhancement. We are aware of the demand for anonymising forums via Open Forums - if you have other use-cases can you please submit details via the Improvement Suggestion form.
This will only populate if a forum announcement has been added in the Forums tab.
This is expected behaviour for the current iteration of the template. Please consider removing restrictions from Forums or making sure students are aware that they will see the forums in the Learning tab with the restriction conditions indicated as usual.
The Announcements forum can now be accessed on the Forums tab, or by left hand navigation under unit information.
By default, Moodle will wait for 5 minutes after you or a student has made a new post in a forum before sending an email notification about the new post. While the post will appear in the forum as soon as it is posted, the email notification about the new post will be delayed. This allows you a short while to edit or make changes to your post before students have been notified.
In the advanced options, you can tick the Send forum post notifications with no editing-time delay to send out an email notification of your post immediately.
Note: Depending on how many emails have been added to queue to be mailed, the email notification may be delayed.
This is a known issue with core Moodle and is being tracked by Moodle HQ. There is no current date for this being fixed. It is recommended to change to a point scale for grading forums.
By default, you will receive separate notifications for each post made to a forum to which you're subscribed. You can choose to consolidate forum email notifications into a daily digest that rounds up all forum notifications into one email each a day (around 5PM) to make these notifications more manageable.
For more information, see the Manage email notifications guide.
