Exclude grades

You can exclude grades for an assessment item from contributing to the final mark for an individual student or multiple students. This can be useful in the case of special consideration(Spec Con).

  1. Open the navigation menu and select Grades.

  2. In the view tab, then select the Single view tab.

  3. You can select an assessment from the Select grade item drop down list.

    OR

    Select a student with the Select user drop down list.

  4. For the grade you would like to exclude, tick the checkbox in the Exclude column. In the Exclude column header, you can select all checkboxes by clicking All or deselect all checkboxes by selecting None.

  5. When you have finished, click Save.
  6. Click Continue, then click Continue again.
  7. In the Grader report, you will see that the assessment item for the chosen student has now been set to Excluded.  

  8. Note: If you would like to exclude the lowest grade for all students, for example, you would like to drop the lowest 2 quiz grades out of 10 quizzes, you can configure this with Drop the lowest in the Gradebook Setup page. For more information see Set up Moodle Gradebook(Add categories).
