Explore, engage and evaluate AI tools
This Bento Box aims to increase your awareness of available Gen AI tools and develop your understanding of how they work and how you might use them in your future profession or industry.
You will need to complete a series of tasks with the support of a Gen AI powered-tool, evaluate the effectiveness of the output and then share your experience with others.
This Bento Box is best used in combination with other Gen AI-related bentos: Ask an AI "expert" or Be an AI "expert".

Instructions for setting up your Bento box
Update the learning activity overview Change the name of the activity so it aligns with the topic of the week. Then, amend the instructions to give student topic areas and formats for what they're to produce with the Gen AI-powered tool.
Update Task 2: Critical exploration Include a list of tools that could be explored and played with by students. If you're new to AI tools, make your way through Teaching about and teaching with AI on Teach HQ to learn about things you need to consider when selecting AI tools. Also be sure to replace [name of industry/discipline specific artefact specified by your teacher] with what you'd like your students to produce. It's worth noting that you do not have to be expert in any of the tools. You're encouraged to use this as an opportunity to explore and evaluate tools together with your students as partners. Alternatively, you could allow your students to find other appropriate tools. If so, you will need to provide them with instructions on how they should find and determine which tools to explore.
Update Task 2: Critical engagement Specify a task to guide students' efforts. Add the specific topic areas and format of what might be produced with the Gen AI-powered tool(s) specific to your discipline, industry or professional role. For example, if you were an educator one example of what you might need to produce is a lesson plan. If you work in technology or design you may need to produce a prototype for a new product or service, or even prepare a data-informed project report for a client or manager. Or even, as a lawyer you may need to create a legal contract between two parties. Be sure to guide your students on how they might critically evaluate the tool for the task, the opportunities/challenges of the tool, and how they might rate the tool.
Engage in the forum discussions for each task Review posts, provide feedback and encourage conversation. |
