Use Feed Forward for formative evaluation
Formative student evaluation refers to formalised feedback opportunities from students to educators conducted during the teaching period about the effectiveness of teaching design, materials and delivery.
The Feed Forward Bento Box enables you to gain immediate feedback from students about their learning experiences. This will enable you to get formative feedback on your teaching, which you can act on earlier than waiting for the release of SETU.

The Feedforward Bento Box helps you gather meaningful student feedback early in the semester, while there is still time to act on it.
Designed for use in Week 3 or 4, this Bento provides a structured way to check in on students’ learning experiences and identify practical improvements you can implement immediately.
“The Feedforward Bento gave me a clear, structured way to gather student feedback and respond to it during the semester. It helped create an open dialogue where students could see that their input led to real changes.”
Dr Joyce Zhang, Faculty of Business and Economics (Department of Accounting)
The Bento includes:
- A pre-populated Moodle questionnaire aligned with QILT Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching
- A structured process for reviewing student sentiment
- A ready-to-use template to communicate back to students what you heard and what will change
By closing the feedback loop within the semester, this Bento supports responsive teaching and strengthens transparency, trust, and engagement in your unit.
